Unshakeable peace is not found in agreeable external conditions. It is cultivated as an internal ground. It is the resilience needed to fully show up in the world in the midst of agreeable and disagreeable external conditions. We tend to conceive ourselves in the world through our senses which makes us reactive. This reactivity keeps us in movement. Unshakeable peace is about cultivating awareness of the natural stillness of the heart. When we conceive ourselves in the world through our hearts, we can be responsive rather than reactive.

Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation Course (14 Oct 2026)

IMCC is offering an Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation Course for 6 weeks from October 14 - November 18 on Wednesday evenings, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Unitarian Church Parlor Room.

Offerings will include strategies for establishing a meditation practice, fundamental mindfulness meditation practices, sharing and processing with group members, and strategies and resources for sustaining a meditation practice.

The class will be facilitated by Phil “Flip” Dupont, who has served as an IMCC Practice Leader and been an active member of IMCC and meditator for 17 years.

Substantial information about getting started with meditation is available on the IMCC website (www.imeditation.org). Go to the Resources tab on the Home page, and check the information under the “Path of Practice” and “Meditation 101” tabs. There is also a Links tab to access other resources.

This course is for you if you have been wanting to get started or re-started with meditation and tend to benefit from structure and support in starting a new habit. This course may not be for you if you are experiencing ongoing psychological difficulties and/or traumatic sequelae, or if you are in the midst of working through significant psychological issues. While meditation practice can support and complement psychotherapy, it can be extremely challenging to get started with meditation in the midst of psychological distress.

If you want more information about the course, of if you are in need of financial assistance andwould like a scholarship for this course, contact opsdirector@imeditation.org
