Please join us in meditation practice and in exploration of what it means to be a man in today's world. Sadly in our culture men rarely come together outside of the traditional arenas of sports and war. This weekend retreat will provide an opportunity to come together, as men, in a supportive environment and explore together our male spirituality.

The retreat will consist of silent periods of sitting and walking meditation, teacher led group discussion periods and dharma talks.

Suitable for both beginning and seasoned meditators. No prior meditation experience is necessary as full instructions will be offered.

Pat Coffey has over 30 years of meditation experience and  teaches nationally and internationally. He has studied with numerous Asian and Western teachers in the Theravada, Tibetan and Zen traditions. Pat is founder of The Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville and the co-founder of the Blue Ridge Prison Project.   He was originally trained as a meditation teacher in the joint teacher training program of The Insight Meditation Society in Massachusetts and Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California under the tutelage of Jack Kornfield and Joseph Goldstein.  Down-to-earth real world practical dharma is the hallmark of his teaching. The father of two children, owner of several businesses and the holder of several patents, he draws on his varied and rich life experience to articulate the dharma.

Chas DiCapua began practicing meditation in the Soto Zen tradition in 1989. He sat his first Vipassana retreat at the Insight Meditation Society in 1995. Since then he has practiced in the US and Asia, both in the Mahasi and Thai Forest traditions of Burma and Thailand.

A graduate of the Spirit Rock/IMS Teacher Training Program, Chas is currently the Resident Teacher at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts. He also teaches regularly at sitting groups and centers throughout the North East. Chas is interested in how the basic material of our everyday lives, including relationships, can be used as a vehicle for awakening.

    Residential Retreat

led by Sharon Beckman-Brindley and Phyllis Hicks

In this workshop/retreat we will explore classical Buddhist teachings on mindfulness, tranquility, and equanimity and connect these to western psychological understandings of
the healing relationship. Particular focus will be on the evolution of authenticity, empathy and mutuality for both provider and client.
